Sons of Anarchy kept up the pace with their second episode of the season, “Authority Vested.” Not only did Tig’s situation get addressed immediately, as expected, but inroads were made on all sorts of storylines. And plot points aside, the episode was chockfull of great moments between the show’s fascinatingly layered characters.
After the horrific ending to the season premiere, it was a relief to see some of the SAMCRO guys be there for Tig both at the scene and with finding his other daughter. From seeing the comments last week, I know some of you weren’t entirely convinced by Kim Coates’s performance in the previous episode, but I had found him to be compelling in his portrayal of a man in varying stages of shock, anguish and rage. I thought Coates was great again in this episode as Tig had to break the news about Dawn to his other daughter. It was especially tough to watch because he knew it was his fault that Dawn was killed. I was a little surprised they didn’t address the fact that Tig accidentally killed Pope’s daughter last season after Clay fed SAMCRO the lie about who had shot him, but I hope that point will make its way into the story down the line
