Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
I liked the way this episode started, and I liked the way it ended. But the middle part had some issues, and even scenes of men beating the snot out of each other couldn't help that.
But the opening was good. Artie has to dodge consistent questions about his Brother Adrian problem. But like any experienced boss, he's well practiced at distracting his charges with conveniently urgent tasks. Too bad for him he finally got corned by three women who technically don't work for him (that ladies of Warehouse 13 are truly formidable.)
Pete and Myka are sent off to investigate an interesting case with angry, mistreated workers rusting from the inside out. There's a mystery afoot! Like all good WH13 stories, this plot is full of misdirection and red herrings, and an antagonist who the viewer is left to guess at. It peaks with Pete's boxing montage which seems to have no real purpose, other than to give the male cast a reason to go shirtless (appealing to the show's female viewership?). The stupidest part of this scene is Pete's habit of dropping his hands and repeatedly leaving himself open to get popped in the face. First rule of boxing: Protect yourself at all times! But Pete apparently didn't learn that lesson in the Marines and gets numerous punches to the face all the way up to the climax of the episode. While I don't necessarily mind seeing Pete get his grill rearranged, it just felt out of place and reeked of hackneyed writing around reasons for Eddie McClintock to take his shirt off.
