Animal shot dead by police after biting three victims during rampage through residential neighbourhood of German capital
Berlin authorities say they shot and killed a 120kg (265-pound) wild boar after it attacked and injured four people, including a police officer in a residential neighbourhood.
Police said on Tuesday that the boar bit a 74-year-old man on the back and leg. It also knocked a 74-year-old woman to the ground and injured her hip on Monday afternoon in the Charlottenburg area of the capital. It also bit a 24-year-old woman before she escaped to safety by climbing aboard a parked car. All three victims were treated in hospital.
When a police officer arrived, the boar attacked him and cut his leg before he pulled his gun and killed the animal with "multiple shots."
Wild boars are relatively common in Berlin, although they rarely cause problems beyond digging up gardens.
